As most people know already, I am in the process of publishing a book series titled "Tales of the Wovlen". The main antagonist in my series is a queen, a witch, named Demitreah.
Demitreah is very old. My sister and I created her when we were just children, playing in the back yard, only 12 or so years ago. But in Demitreah's world, she is thousands of years old. She originally started out as a good, kind person in our back yard. She gave our heroes shelter, healing, and aided them in their quests. However, something happened that changed her for the worse. Few know what exactly happened, but Demitreah sings a song sometimes which hints to the events that led to her fall and the demise of her people. This song is a very sad, very dark, and rather smug, mirroring its composer (Demitreah, not me!). It will be featured in my second book, sang by none other than the witch herself! The second song recounts the woes of Demitreah's most trusted henchmen, the creatures she created herself through painstaking effort, years of toil, and no small amount of magic - The Void Lords. They are wraith, souls trapped in a void, and they are controlled solely by Demitreah. Their past stories are each long and filled with pain. Their song, which they cannot sing, expresses only a fraction of the sadness and pain that they have suffered while forced to live as immortal slaves. I hope you find both songs intriguing, if nothing else. |
