So, this is my first ever video/YouTube book review, and I pretty much stumbled and staggered all the way through it. I got better toward the end, I think, but... yeah. I left out what Genre it is (Fantasy) and I didn't read the "blurp" on the back *Facepalm*.
Needless to say, if you have any tips on making a really good book review on YouTube, TELL ME! I will take any and all tips and suggestions (even if it's something along the lines of "shut yer pie hole and stick to writin' stuff... just be advised that I can throw pie as well as eat it). Anyway, here is THE ARRIVAL (<--- Amazon Affiliate Link): When a rash of mysterious and brutal attacks throughout the Hechani Sea shatters tenuous relations, the city-states erupt into a destructive war. Embroiled in the conflict, young Atian officer Kelvar Alexandros is determined to protect his men and his country in the looming trials, despite his growing concern that the enemy may not be as evil as he assumed. Meanwhile, Mistress Telaine Le Fay, sorceress of Gothrond, is dispatched to investigate the hostilities. Her mission is to discover the roots of the conflict and negotiate a peace settlement. The situation proves unclear, however, and she finds herself inextricably tangled in a web of lies, desperately searching for an elusive truth. Telaine’s past mentor, the excitable intellectual, Jax, has a problem of his own. His studies have led him to a discovery that could have dire consequences, and he is determined to discover if the threat he fears is indeed real. In the desert sands of the Great Waste, an adventurous young man named Tor longs for something more than his mundane, everyday scramble for subsistence. Little does he know, Jarwulf, the infamous Blood Berserker from the north, and his mercenary band will soon arrive in his village – and sweep him off to a life he dared not even imagine. Amidst the tide of darkness rising in Vrold, the only hope may be an unlikely alliance, but evil is rarely obvious. It is a subtle force hiding in plain sight, and the truth is hard to find when even heroes can fall prey to its malevolent will...

So, this video is pretty lengthy. I wanted to keep it as short as possible. But then I decided to hash out EVERYTHING about my hearing loss. I explain how I "lost" my hearing, what the doctors say about it, and I answer some of the common questions that people ask me about it.
If you have any more questions concerning my hearing loss, feel free to ask in the comments below (either here, on my blog, or on YouTube)! I was really nervous making this video. I am really nervous to post and share it. I don't talk about my hearing loss very often, and very few people realize that I am hearing impaired. I like it that way. I like being "normal" (not that having hearing loss at 25ish years old makes a person abnormal, or anything), and I like people treating me like a normal person. But, when you are missing a significant amount of hearing, that makes it almost impossible, even dangerous, for people to treat you like a normal hearing person. And, no matter how much I pretend to be "normal", people eventually figure out the truth. You never realize how much you depend on your hearing until you are missing it. Those with good hearing take their gift totally for granted. And people who are completely deaf have it SO much easier than a hard of hearing person. They live in a world of total silence. A hearing impaired person can hear fragments of things happening around them, and that makes the world a lot more unpredictable and scary.
Space ships, playing cards, keys, and dragons, OH MY!
Here is a little video I made just yesterday about my favorite things that I own and geek out over. If you watch closely and look behind me, you can even see some of my favorite books!

Where is Hell? What is its purpose? Do bad people go directly to Hell when they die?
The Bible explains all of this, and to the surprise of many, the answer is nothing like the mental picture that comes to mind when one thinks of Hell. I am going to go on a really quick walk through the Bible, which means that I am going to go through the Bible chronologically and point out several of the most prominent verses about Hell. I made a YouTube video and have it posted below, if you would like to watch/listen to it. But I also have the verses listed below, just in case you would rather read them for yourself without my comments. Here are the verses: Job 4:8-9, Job 21:30 & 32, Psalm 37:10 & 20, Ezekiel 18:20a, Ezekiel 28:18-19, Malachi 4:1-3, Matthew 3:12, Matt 10:28, Matt 13:40-42, 2 Peter 2:4, 2 Peter 2:6, 2 Peter 2:9, Rev 20:9b I also strongly encourage you to read this free, short 36 page PDF about hell called "Hell-Fire: A Twisted Truth Untangled.". It is very well laid out, based completely off the Bible, has common sense, and explains everything in much better detail, yet it is short enough that I could read through it in 15 minutes (yes, I pre-read it to make sure everything was in-line with the Bible).

As most of you know, Pilot has his own Instagram account where I post pictures of him and interact with other pet owners and lovers. Some time back, I found an Instagram user, Bears Boutique, who was making and selling handmade, paracord dog collars. I asked her if she could make a no-pull, reflective dog harness, and she reassured me that she could.
After I gave her the wrong size for Pilot 3 or 4 times (you'd think I've never used a measuring tape), she made me a wonderful harness! I've been wanting a no-pull dog harness for Pilot for some time, and this one is just perfect! It is well made, colorful, reflective (safety first!), and it is a perfect fit! I will let you watch my YouTube video review for yourself and watch Pilot model the harness while you listen to my further comments. If you would like to consider purchasing something from the lovely person who made Pilot's harness, you can contact her on her Etsy Shop or follow her on Instagram.
I am really sorry that this post is SO late. I was going to post this before the first of the month, but my internet has been horrible. Like, "horrible" is a serious understatement. I've been unable to do anything online. No Facebook. Very little Twitter. Even less Pinterest. Google hardly works *sheds a tear of sadness*. Right now, I am at a friend's house, mooching off her high speed internet. I have not seen ONE loading sign while I've been at her house. It's so great.
Anyway, the third week of tricks went really, really well for Pilot. As a result, I will be getting his Novice Trick Dog Title very soon! *does happy dance* In this set of tricks, Pilot had already learned "Roll-Over", but he didn't know any of the others. I had fun finding new ways to drive him and encourage him. As you will probably be able to tell from the video, some of these were a little bit challenging, even after he had learned them. But they have been great exercise for his brain. Learning them has also made him more confident and they have set him up to learn some other great tricks (which we are already in the process of figuring out and memorizing). Now I am planning on making a series of videos that show how to teach YOUR dog each of the tricks that Pilot has learned. I'm not sure how long it's going to take (considering it can take 3 days to upload a YouTube video on my internet), but if you want to be sure to get in on those when I finish them, subscribe to my YouTube account! Enjoy the video (FYI, my voice tends to annoy me, so it might annoy you. Therefore, you may want to turn the volume down. Just say'in...):
No singing this week, kids. Sorry. However, I have three poems for you this time!
The first one today, "Song Of The Twisted Tree", is the one poem I had the most fun writing! My mother once told me that, if she ever owned a Bed & Breakfast, she would want to name it "The Twisted Tree" and have a sign by the door that read "Beware of the nuts!". Of course I had to write a song for it, and since my brain spends 95% of its time in a world of fantasy, I based it in the same, and it came out completely ridicules and fun! The tune I put it to is "O'Sullivans March", a traditional Irish song. The link will take you to a YouTube Video. In case you want to sing along, you should know that there is a "musical interlude" starting from 1:51 and lasting until 3:18 on the video where my song does not fit in. My little brothers and sisters just love to sing the song along with me, and they dance during the "interlude". They think it's a hoot!
Now, this short little poem is meant for summoning a dragon. If you speak it, the dragon nearest you will hear it and answer your call.
This summons must ONLY be used when you have no other choice. It isn't a "come to my tea-party" invitation. It is a "help me, help me, help me" sort of thing that the dragons take very seriously. I wrote it a long time ago when I was just a little kid, and it has changed a lot since then, and it still changes when I need it to. It's a very flexible poem. So, keep it in your pocket and use it wisely.
This song next song, "The Dragon's Breath", is a completely different pace from the other two. It is slow and sad.
I wrote it for the dragons in my books. The horrible things that I put my poor babies through sometimes require a soft, sad song to sooth them afterward. It actually goes to a song call "The Dragons Breath" composed by David Arkenstone. I took the liberty of putting together a video with my "lyrics" going to Arkenstone's music. Perhaps one day I will actually sing it for you, but, until then, you'll just have to keep your fingers crossed. Enjoy the video: ![]()

Then, check out my poem below the video, which I wrote for my sister about 5 years ago. It's pretty awesome, if I do say so myself. HEY! And don't forget to link up your blog post below as well! It is White Rabbit link up time again, after all! Oh... and beware of April Fools fools... It is that time of year. *looks around suspiciously* Fiddler of the Night
A lone shadow dances gaily under the moonlight
Playing a fiddle, prancing and dancing in the night The sight of her charms and her music sways hearts She plays for joy and pleasure, she leaps like a hart. ~ But lo another shadow comes with the sound of drum! He follows her shadow to and fro, beating with a steady hum. She leaps for joy, he spins in delight, following her every move They play together in the night, enchantment need not prove. ~ What sound now reaches ears? Another drum of the night? Its sound deep and strong, playing, growing with great might. Now two drummers of the night stand by the fiddle player They compete against each other to win her good favor. ~ She plays the melody with thriving joy, and they a steady beat She spins and dances while fiddling, and they drumming do meet They circle her and beat their drums while she plays the song Each hoping he’ll gain her interest, they beat drums loud and strong. ~ Ah now the test! The fiddler stops and suddenly changes tunes She leans close to one drummer to better hear his enduring boom Then she prances to the other to watch his drumming swell And dances when both past the test drumming along so well. ~ Now the fiddler plays a last note then vanishes from sight And the drummers weep and wane away in the closing night If one will sometime listen to the dark and calm night’s wind They may hear the drums and know that the fiddler did descend. |
